Confessions of Selfishness
If we’re trying to control our own outcomes (or put other people and things in control), we will soon discover how wrong that can go, leaving us empty handed and in most cases, hopeless and scared.
Whatever areas we feel the most like hiding or “not talking about” — these are the places we need to go with the Lord. Only he can shine his light and bring transformation.
As Proverbs 28:13 tells us, “He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”

Here’s how it works: First pray with the Bible verse and then read the questions one by one. Answer truthfully.
Every “yes” means sin, so spend time on each question in order to confess and name it to God. Refuse to make an excuse for the sin, but be willing to make it right.
Pray
Verse: Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
Confess
- Is there anything in which you have failed to put God first?
- Have your decisions been made after your own wisdom and desires, rather than by seeking and following God’s will?
- Do any of the following in any way interfere with your surrender and service to God: ambition, pleasures, loved ones, friendships, desire for recognition, money, your own plans?

It’s time to go by faith and trust in the Lord. If you’re not ready to let something go, ask Jesus Christ to enter your heart. Trust him, and be assured that he will show you what’s right.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9)
