Ignore the Chatter

Going By Faith and Ignore the ChatterAlong with my husband and son, another important fellow shares our home. He’s our large-and-in-charge ragdoll cat Figaro. I’m always learning something from the Fig, but I especially love the way he doesn’t sweat the small stuff in the backyard world.

Birds squawk when he gets near “their” trees. Dragonflies flee the scene. Foxtails cling to his fur, sticking him until removed. Squirrels chirp and throw their hands at him for no apparent reason. But he delights in the backyard. He returns morning after morning to his cat door, waiting to explore the new day.

Find Strength in Faith

How do we react to the “chatter” of the world? It’s tempting to listen and go where the wind blows us. We start avoiding certain trees and feeling irritated by the darts pricking at us over and over again. We try to understand nonsense–and it can make us crazy.

Stay strong in faith, and stand on solid ground always. Jesus said, “Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock” (Matthew 7:24).

Figaro seems to ignore the chatter. Watch him do it in this 20-second video:
