The Things We Can’t Seem to Shake

personal issuesWe all have a character flaw or attitude that can feel difficult — sometimes too difficult — to address. When it’s not staring us in the face life is good, but when it makes its way into the spotlight, the unpleasant emotions seem to easily unravel our sense of composure.

When a weak spot takes center stage, it can feel like hitting a nerve. We gasp inside… locking down to find comfort somewhere far away from what’s going on around us. Our happiness gets rocked, and the discomfort sets in with a wide grin.

A seed can turn into a tree with many branches. When our insecurity is left unattended it can grow strong and manifest itself in a number of ways, some of which we don’t recognize. Cutting away the branches gets tedious and exhausting (plus the branches keep growing).

This work is deep, so let’s go to the root with God and pray for His supernatural intervention. When we decide to live by faith, this uncomfortable feeling could let us know we’ve hit a gold mine. God is attempting to push us out of our comfort zone and enlarge our lives. Are we willing?

Going to the Root with God

Embroiled in anxiety? In those moments, pray like never before. Please God, I need your spirit to work in me. This feeling is beyond my control, and I know what the enemy intends for evil, you turn around and use for good. I’m in the fire Lord, and I pray for you to mold me.

Remember, often times God uses adversity to help us get to a higher level in our faith. Will we hang in there and trust that God is at work? Will we believe that the challenge is for our greater good and that a roadblock must be removed from our path for growth?

Shaking the Unshakable

The next time we find ourselves faced with what seems an ongoing struggle, it’s time for promotion. It’s time to sit with the knot and breathe while God untangles it. We trust him with our whole heart and practice patience knowing this could take awhile — we might have to go through it over and over again — but each time we trust that God is at work. He removes whatever is keeping us from the next level.

Nothing is unshakable for God. Nothing. If we pray for His guidance through adversity, we are doing the best work of our lives. We are putting our whole heart toward God.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. (Corinthians 4:17-18)

Blessings and love to you!
