Who Is I Am?

who is god?Perhaps you have wondered about God. You have had different ideas about God. You have had moments of understanding and moments of questioning.

Moments of doubt.

I think this could describe us all.

And there is the question at the top of the post: Who is I am?

It is the name God called himself. And it is a question that can be answered with a question. But first…

It’s In the Bible

Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?”

God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.'”

The above verses can be found in Exodus 3:13-14, and they leave many with a feeling of “I understand… but I don’t understand.”

Being of himself, God is, was and will be — he is unchangeable. Most of us feel the meaning on a deep soul level.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Revelation 1:8).

The Bible is all about God. There are passages that describe God, passages that quote God and Bible verses that speak to us on a different level, helping us piece together the story of I AM.

And If You Don’t Read the Bible…

… and still ask Who is I Am? The question back would be Have you asked him?

God being God means he is faithful to his promises. If we ask him, he will answer. Watch for it.
